When choosing hosting sites/platforms for your website you have A LOT of options to choose from. It can be so overwhelming, especially when you are an entrepreneur. You want to make sure that the money you are spending is worth it and you will see that in return. After much research, I chose Squarespace for my platform. For the most part, the clients I work with are a one woman show. When you work for yourself your time is limited. You all know the quote “Time is Money” and that is exactly why I only work within the Squarespace platform for my clients. So let’s talk about how this can benefit your business.
Learning a new platform can be exhausting and sometimes devastating especially if you accidentally screw up your code. When you have to take the time to figure out simple commands to get your text or images to go in places you want, that can be so infuriating. All of that takes time. With Squarespace there is NO CODE to learn. NONE. You can do a few fancy things with code if you are cool like that but for those of you not rocking the code jargon you are simply looking for a platform to be quick, efficient and gorgeous and that is what Squarespace provides.
2. No screwing up your site
When my client’s site is ready to take off, we take an hour and a half together to walk through the site. We go through the site and I teach them all of the basics of Squarespace. My clients are pros by the time we are done. Most clients do not need the full time but I want to make sure they feel confident that they will not burn their site down in five minutes of being released on their own. Pretty cool right!? The way Squarespace is set up is by using a smart drag and drop feature for images. All of the options are labeled so you really cannot screw it up. Well unless you really try to-I simply tell my clients just do not hit SAVE when moving stuff around and you can hit CANCEL instead and your site will not be changed. Follow that one rule and you can feel free to play around with your content with little risk to your template.
3. Templates GALORE
Squarespace offers free templates that you can switch up at any time!
Here’s a list of each template family:
- Aviator, Aubrey, Encore
- Bedford, Anya, Bryant, Hayden
- Brine, Basil, Clay, Feed, Foster, Greenwich, Hatch, Heights, Hunter, Hyde, Jaunt, Juke, Keene, Lincoln, Marta, Mercer, Mojave, Motto, Nueva, Rally, Rover, Sonora, Thorne
- Farro, Haute
- Marquee, Adversary, Alex, Eamon, Ginger, Mint, Shift (discontinued)
- Montauk, Julia, Kent, Om

- Skye, Foundry, Tudor
- Tremont, Carson, Henson
- York, Artesia, Harris, Lange, Jasper, Shibori, Taylor
I love the different looks and unique options that these templates offer. Having that many choices can be overwhelming, but I would much rather have too many choices than too few! It is a lot of fun to change up your template and see how your design changes within each one. However, if you are already working with a designer you should trust her vision and continue with the template she has chosen for your project. If you are a self taught entrepreneur, going into the Squarespace world by yourself and figuring it out as you go along that is awesome!! Find a template you love and have a great time figuring out all of the amazing features it has to offer.
4. Easily add in SEO
If you are an entrepreneur I’m sure you are researching SEO and how it effects your business. Essentially SEO is where you rank on search engines such as Google or Yahoo. SEO is important because you want to be on the first page when someone is looking for your service! There are many places you can list keywords to get your website SEO efficient and rocking the search engine maze.
5. Not tech savvy-no worries
Honestly you do not have to be tech savvy to rock a squarespace website. I LOVE this because it gives everyone the option to launch a site! Straight forward is the way to go. Honestly I’m a designer and widgets on WordPress confuse the heck out of me. I must say WordPress has stepped up their game a bit on being able to see what the widget does in real time, but it is still ridiculously confusing. I love that you can still embed items into squarespace pages and not have to worry about the widgets and where they might fit within a WordPress page. You can completely customize your Squarespace and skip the headache-I would say that is a win for entrepreneurs #amiright
7. Save Money & One Stop Shop
I love how you do not need a separate hosting company for using a Squarespace site. If you want to check out their low monthly or yearly subscription fees click HERE . You can also connect your ecommerce shop right through them! No paying for multiple sites! You can do a lot of amazing things using Squarespace as a platform. You can see their pricing below. If you choose their annual account you can stand to save anywhere from 13% to 25%!
8. Award Winning Customer Support
I absolutely love that I can get a hold of Squarespace’s customer support and also be able to look into their library of support articles at any time. They are constantly doing workshops and creating content to help you on your journey no matter what your level of experience. For designers like me, there is also a Circle Community where designers can go and ask questions to continue their education with designing. Their community is seriously the best when it comes to taking care of their customers!
